Air Pulford was set up to collect and preserve Panavia Tornado aircraft sections and collect relevant material & historic information. We now also want to share similar projects including aircraft preservation, aircraft photography and other interesting stuff! Please feel free to browse the site and get in touch if you have any questions or can offer some help!
Aircraft Sections
Air Pulford started in 1998 and the original vision was to collect and preserve aviation artefacts to show to the general public at various shows in the North West area. In 2000 I aquired Canberra B.2 WJ676 aircraft nose section. I then restored the aircraft section and displayed it at various shows over 4 years. This aircraft section is now with another collector and is based in New Zealand. Air Pulford is a non-profiting making title for the collection.
Air Pulford currently comprises 3 ‘airframes’ and a number of significant airframe parts. We also have a part share in another airframe and one airframe in store:-
First is the Tornado F.2 ZD938 nose section, first flying in 1985 it was one the airframes converted to an F.3 in 1993 and the nose section was put into storage at RAF Shawbury. In 2006 I purchased the cockpit section which I have managed to display publically a number of times. In 2008 it won the Flypast magazine ‘Best Cockpit’ award at the annual Newark Air Museum show. Now stored & displayed very kindly by the South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum in Doncaster if you visit the museum you can get up close!
The second airframe is Tornado GR1 ZD710, purchased in 2013 it is now displayed at shows and occasionally at Hawarden Airfield near the Chocks Away Cafe. One side is now partially restored and the other left in a crashed state which raises alot of interest.
The Third aircraft is slightly different, it is an AH1 Sioux Helicopter XT236. Collected in 2016 the helicopter is now 50% complete, check out the link for pictures and updates!
The Part share aircraft is Twin Pioneer XM549 / G-AYFA this cockpit section is currently on loan at the Dumfries and Gallowway Museum in Scotland. We also store Jet Provost T3 XT236 at our main store.
When I get chance, I like to get out and try to capture images of animals, aircraft and people. I plan to share these more widely in the future but for now its just a hobbby, so watch this space.
